The Berry Best Strawberry Trifle

Don’t you just love strawberry season? We do! Having two U-Pick farms in Tift County, a sweet strawberry dessert is just a staple in our area! Below are the ingredients that you will need to make our Strawberry Trifle! The first step of this recipe is to grab your berries from Berry Good Farms or Rutland Farms! Strawberry season stretches from late March through April. Grab a trifle bowl or just a large, deep bowl and let's get started! Grab the following items below!

  • 2 lbs. of Strawberries, BUT the more the merrier!
  • 1/2 a cup of sugar
  • Large box of instant vanilla pudding (the one with 6 servings) plus the ingredients to make it!
  • Tub of Cool Whip
  • Pound Cake from the ABAC’s Georgia Museum of Agriculture, give them a call to order! We love pound cake of course some people make a trifle with Angel Cake. We are southern! The more butter, the better. If you can’t get it from ABAC’s Georgia Museum of Agriculture, just grab one from your local grocery store!

Wash and cut the strawberries into quarters. Add the sugar to the strawberries and toss to coat. Set aside in the fridge for 30 minutes, tossing at least one more time! We want this to be sweet. Prepare the pudding as directed. Gently fold in Cool Whip. Set aside in the fridge, until needed. After the strawberries have chilled with that sugar for at least 30 minutes, strain the strawberry sugar syrup into a container with a pourable lip, we use a measuring cup! Do not waste any of that sweet strawberry syrup. Yummy! Next you will cube up your pound cake into bite sized pieces. Layer your ingredients into the trifle bowl in this order: 1/3 of the pound cake, then pour 1/3 of strawberry syrup over the pound cake, 1/3 of pudding mixture and then 2/5 of strawberries.  Repeat these layers twice more, the final layer of strawberries should be slightly less to go on the top! Refrigerate strawberry trifle for at least 2 hours before serving. Enjoy! We told you it is the Berry Best!
